It took me five weeks (two of that was recovering), but the video of our 40 mile walk is now ready. I condensed 16 hours of walking over two days into 11 minutes. I cannot wait for the next walk in Chicago in ‘10.

While I am still recovering and also still on the west coast at a conference for DealTaker, I am slowly compiling pictures, thoughts, and video from the event. It was AMAZING and I cannot wait to share more. As soon as I do, I will let you know. Meanwhile, a special thanks to Ward Mahowald of Cards Direct and Yvonne Hardin – a DealTaker member – for donations during and after the event. The encouragement and support was never-ending throughout.

Thank to Sherri Stone and Bob and Karen Reilly for their donations today. Only two days to go until the event.

The Labor Day weekend was great for training and getting ready for the Avon Walk. With all the training I have done and all the marvelous participation in donations from friends, colleagues, and members of DealTaker it has been a fast couple of months. I FEEL READY.
I did a 12 mile walk on Saturday that was pretty intense (3 hours, 1,149 calories). After talking with many friends that have done marathons, I am going to do one more short walk this week in order to save strength and get completely rested. Meanwhile, I also get to eat well to build energy reserves for the 40 miles over two days.
Our team is progressing well on our donations. We are about $4,500 short of our $50,000 goal. I would like to do my part by getting up to $7,500 this week – about $1,000 more. If you would like to help, please go to http://tk2.us/donate4AvonWalk – the donation process is quick and easy.
Finally, I would like to thank a few people that donated over the weekend – Leighton Strawbridge (my sweet 7-year-old daughter), Kevin Elliott (a former colleague and star e-mail consultant), and Doris Lanier. Each of these donations helps me to continue pushing forward and to represent DealTaker and Affiliate Marketers Give Back to the best of my ability.
Have a great week.

I cannot believe how fast the last few months have gone by. With only ten days to go until the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Los Angeles, it is all coming to a head – training, fundraising, and excitement.
I will admit, I lightened up a bit yesterday. I walked 4 miles in the morning, but took off the rest of the day to enjoy my birthday. Today I will ramp it back up again.
I received on donation yesterday and want to pass along a special thanks to Dawn Miller. I am still working to raise funds between now and the 12th – so any amount is certainly a blessing.
Congrats to our team Captain – Missy Ward - she is closing in on $20K and will be a top ten fundraiser for the walk – that entitles her the chance to meet Patrick Dempsey.
Thank you again for all your support.

This morning I woke up hoping that a pain in my back from last night would have gone away. I picked up my son and strained something. According to my co-worker Vicki Jasper, she thinks it might me a displaced rib that works itself back into place quickly. I tried to go for the first six of 12 miles this morning, but the jarring from walking was very uncomfortable and it was hard to take a deep breath. So, I am going to take off one more day this week and recover. Tomorrow it will be back to the schedule.
Speaking of schedule, on the advice of a friend that ran a marathon last year, I need to do a few more long days this week and then consistently do some mid range work to get loose next week. Therefore, I will do 12 miles tomorrow and Thursday, take off Friday, do 13 and 13 on Saturday and Sunday and then 6 miles a day Monday through Thursday next week.

This weekend was a good weekend for training and fundraising. On Friday at midnight, the auction that was being held at http://amgb.wordpress.com ended and the tripthat DealTaker donated (with the help of Sandals/Beaches) was won for a bid of $1,035.00. That, along with another $11,000.00+ in winning bids on other prizes pushed the teams total up significantly.
I trained hard this weekend as well. I did 11 miles on Saturday and another 11 miles on Sunday. Both efforts were straight through so that I could work on building endurance. The lesson I learned on Saturday was that I need to hydrate more and try to eat something instead of just waking up and going.
Looking forward to a solid week of endurance training this week. Thanks in advance for your support.

Today is a joyous day around DealTaker and for me personally. Two weeks ago, we set a goal of $5,000 to raise for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer that is in Los Angeles September 12-13, 2009. We reached that goal, and then some, on the backs of several contributors in the last eight hours. Thank you to the following:
Amy Africa – Eight by Eight Marketing and Qlog
Ben Cooper – ThinkCash
Kambrea Pratt – DealTaker member
Ross-Simons- DealTaker merchant
Bryan Head – Friend of DealTaker
Kristen Mitchell – DealTaker member
On the training front, things are good. I did ten mile each of the last two days as planned (making it 28 miles in four days). I also started breaking in the new shoes yesterday – already a few blisters, but now I know where to focus on fixing it. Tomorrow and Sunday will be 11 miles – straight through – each day. I am less concerned with the physical and more concerned with the mental aspect of going 2:45 straight.
On top of that, we have been very busy this week. I would be remiss if I did not mention the newest product coming out from the DealTaker franchise – NewatNoon – it will be a fun daily product website with lots of user interaction – check it out.
